Test and inspection laboratory
AEV Automotive is a test and inspection laboratory certified in accordance with the criteria set out in standards UNE/EN ISO/IEC 17020 and 17025 and we`ve been appointed by the Ministry of Industry as technical service of reforms and individual approval of completed vehicles in Spain.
We provide manufacturers and users in general with the documents they need to approve or certify their vehicles, systems, or components in line with the regulations and standards in force, carrying out inspections and tests where necessary and following the guidelines of our quality system.
We have qualified, experienced technicians along with suitable facilities and equipment that allow us to develop our activity with utmost professionalism and efficiency.
Type of test we perform

Rear underrun protective devices to vehicles of categories N2, N3, O3 and O4 (UN Regulation Nº 58).

Lateral protection devices to vehicles of categories N2, N3, O3, O4, R3b and R4b (UN regulation 73 and Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/208).

Mechanical couplings of agricultural and forestry towed vehicles category R and S with a maximum design speed not exceeding 40km/h (Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/208).

ACCREDITED TESTS
AEV is laboratory that has been certified in line with the criteria set out in standard UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 for the development of tests defined in its technical scope.
We test systems, components and separate technical units according to the parameters established in regulatory acts on vehicles, their systems and components, in accordance with the provisions set out in regulatory acts on vehicle approval.
We carry out tests to legalise vehicle reforms, control of the conformity of production and check compliance with regulatory requirements.
BENCH TESTING
AEV is certified and has a test bench to carry out the tests required to approve rear underrrun protection and lateral protection devices in accordance with the requirements set out in Regulations (UN) 58 to vehicles of categories N2, N3, O3 and O4, (UN) 73 to vehicles of categories N2, N3, O3 and O4 and Regulation (EU) 208/2018 for vehicles in category RA.
Our test bench has been carefully designed and equipped with everything it needs to apply pulling and compression forces of up to 20 tons and measure horizontal and vertical deformities in the devices during tests with the required precision.
We collaborate with manufacturers of separate technical units and vehicles in the design and development of their rear underrun protection devices, tests, and report issuance to control conformity of production in line with regulations and procedures to obtain approval certificates.
In addition, we test all kinds of components and devices that require checking or certification regarding their resistance to forces, at the request of manufacturers and importers.
Certification test of XL body structures, canvases, lashing points and mounted poles
Royal Decree 563/2017, of 2 June, regulating technical roadside inspections of commercial vehicles circulating in Spain, and transposing to Spanish law the European Directive 2014/47/EU, refers to the correct bearing of a load as an essential aspect in road safety. In point 5 of appendix III, it sets out standards applicable to this matter, including EN-12640 on lashing points, EN-12642 on the resistance of a vehicle´s body structure, EN-12641 on tarpaulin and EUMOS 40511 on mounted poles.
AEV was the first Spanish laboratory to carry out the tests required to certify body structures and components in line with these standars.
Test to certify body structures-EN 12642
Test to certify body structures in accordance with standards EN 12642:2006 y EN 12642:2016 (*), which specify the basic minimum requirements and tests suited to standard vehicle bodies, code L, and reinforced vehicle bodies, code XL. Compliance with this standard has been required for some time in some countries in the European Union where work in vehicles that do not guarantee compliance with said standard has started to be limited.
(*) UNE-EN 12642:2017: This standard void and replaces standard EN 12642:2006.
For this reason, here at AEV we offer tests in line with the provisions of this standard for:
- Tests on standard bodies, code L.
Tests on reinforced bodies, code XL.
Tests to certify tarpaulin- UNE-EN 1261:2
Test to certify trapaulin in accordance with standards EN 12641-2:2006 and EN 12641-2:2019(*), which specify the minimum requirements related to the resistance and fixing of tarpaulin used, for example, in commercial vehicles, as well as specifying the suitable tests for tarpaulin that are to be used in reinforced vehicles bodies, code XL.
(*) UNE-EN 12641-2:2020: This standard void and replaces standard EN 12641-2:2006.
Compliance with this standard is required for code XL vehicles that wish to circulate without their load being lashed as they must features tarpaulin that have been certified in line with this standard.
We offer to carry our these tests in accordance with the provisions set out in this standard.
Tests to certify lashing points and vehicles- EN 12641
Test to certify lashing points and vehicles in accordance with standards EN 12640:2000 and EN 12640-2019(*), which specify the minimum requirements related to the resistance and arrangement of flashing points on commercial vehicles to transport goods, as well as specifying the tests to guarantee conformity with the requirements of the standard.
(*) UNE-EN 12640:2020: This standard void and replaces standard EN 12640:2000.
Tests to certifiy mounted poles- EUMOS 40511
Tests to certify wooden mounted poles in the line with standard EUMOS 40511. By performing tests in accordance with this standard, the maximum reference blocking capacities (RBC) are defined for poles and stanchions assembled on vehicles designed mainly to transport wood and posts.
